竹笙丝韵 2008

SACO concert yesterday wasn't too bad.
some regular mistakes here and there,
and some unexpected errors.

Before i talk about the concert,
I would like to express my heartfelt gratitude to PEIZHI ,
who'd still came down for CO concert
despite having his friends pang-sehing him.
When I saw the sms, I was quite loss for words:
1. Felt very moved
2. Felt more guilty
3. Felt even more thankful

I also wanna thank:
1) My family (including sister) for coming down, esp mommy for her $20 Belgium chocolate flower!
2) My aunt and joyce for the lily flower and support
3) Chintow and Pinhua for encouragements and flower
4) Mr Low, Mr Tan
5) all supporters who came for concert
6) Other seniors who came to support and help us, esp Jordan, YiJia and Sophie

Despite me only sleeping 3 plus hours on friday night,
to stay high and widely awake to 2 am last night was a miracle.
It's like >24 hours can!
But I know it's bad for my health. Ack.

During the concert,
I did realise that some members were looking very sad after the first few songs.
Just wanna tell them that it's okay,
and that moving on is the only way for the concert.
anyway, we did well for the 2nd half (:

Actually I was quite nervous for Pirates solo.
somemore I was sitting near the edge of the stage,
facing the incoming crowd made me kind of lost.
My family was sitting on the 2nd row of the CC lah!
so I didn't quite dare to look up at the audience.
It started pretty okay,
and to my amazement,
vibratos sounded even better than during practices.
Except one part when my nails nearly got stuck between strings,
I nearly panicked but i used my other fingers to cross over to play.
So heng sia.

I was, in fact, quite moved when i heard "way back into love",
like what Jordan and Mr Low said:
Despite all the hard work and time forked into arranging songs,
the end-product would be the gift which you feel that everything's worth it.

"Pretty woman" wasn't too bad,
with some minor tempo problems,
but at least we pulled through this song,
given that we'd learnt it in less than a week before performing.
Maybe the juniors can improvise it and we can use it next time! (:

the other songs were great too.
Except name of life where everyone lost count at almost the same part.
i think if we practised more,
it's gonna be one of the best songs! :D

Funny and memorable moments:
1. Tawan and his jokes that made me very happy.
2. Wenghao and Daryl dancing the tango.
3. some people prancing around during barbie girl.
4. Jason, the future poster boy, hugging the gz to sleep.
5. the funniest part was during the finale.
encore twice! LOL. Tawan started shouting encore himself HAHAHA.

OH YEA.
Many people feedbacked that GZ ensemble was fantastic!
WAHAHAHHAHA~~~
i bet they didn't realise that i did not hold the string to the perfect pitch,
cos i covered the weird sounds with vibrato. (:
Nessa was saying that she heard Daryl's friend asking
"Did you all get your guzheng players from EBAY?"
I was like : LOL :

To Nessa:
Don't be upset for the wrong key of gz.
i think you and xinyi complemented each other pretty well,
especially for the 4 and 7 notes.
she played 4 very well, of which G major can't play,
but you played 7 quite perfectly and loudly (:
It's nice to have you around during practices.
I think I'm gonna miss you badly after College day performance,
and those days where we can laugh at HiaJing and Tawan ('television') during practices and our random food expeditions after practices.
Continue to do GUZHENG PLAYERS PROUD OKAY! :D

To Xinyi:
THE AUNTY FROM HER VILLAGE HOMETOWN!
(i know you're gonna kill me for this.)
HURHURHRUR.

and you did great for section 2!
and many thanks for the xylophone score for Pretty woman.

To Xinyi, Nessa, Xinghua:
Well done! I'm so proud of you all!
and many thanks to Xinghua for playing loudly near the end of the fast section.
cos my hand lost balance and nearly hit the wrong note.

I have too many things to say to too many people.
Maybe I shall tell them personally.
and I'm lazy to upload the pictures.
hahahaha.

Anyway, thank you SACO for this journey of growth.
Continue to shine on the stage as performers,
because the stage is yours. (:
